Season 12 Sets Part III: Malevolent

This is the third article in a series of four, focusing on the PvP armor that will be arriving with Season 12, shortly after the release of Mists of Pandaria. Part III focuses on the Malevolent Gladiator sets.

            Part I: Contender’s Sets (ilvl 450)
Part II: Dreadful Gladiator’s (ilvl 458)
Part III: Malevolent Gladiator’s (ilvl 483)
Part IV: Malevolent Gladiator’s Elite (ilvl 483)

Malevolent Gladiator’s armor pieces are of epic quality and item level 483. The weapons are also epic, although of a slightly low item level, at 470. Each 5-piece Malevolent class set is accompanied by matching boots, belts and bracers, all of which are purchasable with Conquest Points.

The Malevolent items may be purchased from two vendors, one for each faction, both of whom are located in Pandaria:

AllianceLucan Malory is located atop the Serpent’s Spine wall in the Valley of the Four Winds, close   to a flight point named “The Lion’s Redoubt”.

HordeDoris Chiltonius is also located on the Serpent’s Spine, but in Kun-Lai Summit. The nearest       flight point is called “Hellscream’s Fist”.

The total cost for the 8-piece set comes to 14450 Conquest Points, broken down into 2200 each for the head, chest and legs, 1650 each for the shoulders, gloves, belt and boots, and 1250 for the wrists.

Season 12 Sets Part II: Dreadful

This is the second article in a series of four, showcasing the Season 12 PvP sets that will be arriving in Mists of Pandaria. Part II focuses on the Dreadful Gladiator sets.

            Part I: Contender’s Sets (ilvl 450)
Part II: Dreadful Gladiator’s (ilvl 458)
Part III: Malevolent Gladiator’s (ilvl 483)
Part IV: Malevolent Gladiator’s Elite (ilvl 483)

Dreadful Gladiator’s armor pieces are of rare quality and item level 458. The items were initially epic and 464 item level, but were changed early in Mists of Pandaria. Each 5-piece Dreadful class set is accompanied by matching boots, belts and bracers, all of which are purchasable with Honor Points.

The Dreadful items may be purchased from two vendors, one for each faction, both of whom are located in Pandaria:

AllianceHayden Christophen is located atop the Serpent’s Spine wall in the Valley of the Four           Winds, close to a flight point named “The Lion’s Redoubt”.

HordeLok’nor Bloodfist is also located on the Serpent’s Spine, but far away in Kun-Lai Summit           instead (the wall is rather huge, spanning six of the seven Pandaria zones). The nearest flight point is     called “Hellscream’s Fist”.

The total cost for the 8-piece set comes to 14450 Honor Points, broken down into 2200 each for the head, chest and legs, 1650 each for the shoulders, gloves, belt and boots, and 1250 for the wrists.

Season 12 Sets Part I: Contender’s

This is the first article in a series of four, showcasing the Season 12 PvP sets that will be arriving in Mists of Pandaria. Part I focuses on the Contender’s sets.

            Part I: Contender’s Sets (ilvl 450)
Part II: Dreadful Gladiator’s (ilvl 458)
Part III: Malevolent Gladiator’s (ilvl 483)
Part IV: Malevolent Gladiator’s Elite (ilvl 483)

There are eight Contender’s sets in total, each comprised of eight rare quality item level 450 pieces. The sets are not class-specific, but are infact crafted by either Tailors, Leatherworkers, or Blacksmiths, in the same way that Catacylsm had craftable entry-level PvP gear.

Interestingly, unlike previous crafted PvP items, this set is actually labelled as being a part of a PvP Season, with the green “Season 12″ tag in the tooltip.

Each of the Contender’s sets fills a specific combat role, according to each armor type. The sets are listed below, alongside their role, and seperated by their respective crafting profession:

Tailoring
– Satin (Spirit Cloth Priests)
– Silk (Caster Cloth DPS)

Leatherworking
– Leather (Physical Leather DPS)
– Wyrmhide (Leather Casters)
– Dragonscale (Physical Mail DPS)
– Scale (Mail Casters)

Blacksmithing
– Revenant (Physical Plate DPS)
– Spirit (Holy Paladins)

The Tailoring and Leatherworking sets currently require at least 590 skill in their respective professions, in order to create the full set. For some reason, the Blacksmith crafted sets only require 575 at most to create.

Challenge Mode Armor

One of the most exciting features of Mists of Pandaria, from a transmogrification perspective, is the addition of Challenge Mode armor sets, a brand new selection of outfits for the class-specific catalogue.

Similar to the Replicas released with Darkmoon Faire in Patch 4.3, Challenge Mode armor sets will consist of eight stat-less items, which players may use for transmogrification. Each class has its own visually unique Challenge Mode set, as depicted below. Take note of the highly detailed belt models, unlike any previously seen in-game.

The Challenge Mode items are presumed to be contained within a Golden Chest named according to the set it contains. For example, Golden Chest of the Betrayer contains the Warlock set, named ‘Betrayer’. A Golden Chest is awarded once the player has obtained the Challenge Conqueror: Gold achievement, by completing every Challenge Mode dungeon with a rating of Gold.

As the name implies, you should be in for a real challenge if you hope get your hands on one of these sets. Good luck!
