WoW Factor EU-Argent Dawn Alliance Follow-up

Time for another home-realm event as the WoW Factor headed to Argent Dawn EU this week, the home of WoW Roleplay Gear!

Accompanying the usual team as a guest judge was none other than Phaice, top prize winner from one of the earliest WoW Factor events, Scarlet Crusade US Horde. She is responsible for an array of impressive transmog outfits, as can be seen on Phaice’s Facebook.

The event was hosted at our usual Alliance location, Stormwind Cathedral, albeit not without controversy. A number of individuals were unhappy with the choice of location, due to the proximity to a roleplay hub and likelyhood of attracting trolls. We sympathise with their concerns, but unfortunately there are no other Alliance locations which could have held the enormous crowd that showed up this week!

As always, Elvine provided the livestream with judge commentary, although due to a crash early in the evening, the recording was divided into two parts which are linked below.

Event Announcement Post

Initially, we were scheduled to have a 100,000 gold prize package provided by Narve, a local AD player. However, not only did Narve out-do himself by adding a further 30,000 to the pot, but a number of others contributed to really bulk out the prize fund. Noelani added 26,000 and a handful of transmog items, Xarcias and Royal Court guild each donated 2,000, and The Gold Queen dropped by with her own special 10,000g prize to hand out. All of that brought the grand total for the night up to a staggering 170,000 gold. A huge thanks to everybody who contributed, especially Narve for initiating the event and sponsoring the bulk of the prize money.

If you’re like to read about the event from the perspective of a participant, Samaramón has written about her ‘Lady in Blue’ outfit, which won 3,500 gold at the event, in the article My Mad Mog Skillz finally paid off! (TheWoWfactor) at Samaramon’s World.

Competition Outline

The event was divided into two rounds, the first being the so-called ‘Random Round’, where we awarded multiple prizes of various sizes. In the second round, judges selected four characters as overall winners and three more as runners-up.

The prize total came to 170,000 gold.

Best show yet and a really lovely server where i am now leveling my show attending toon.

I met a couple of contestants afterwards who were complaining it was too busy however.

    • Noelani says:

I’m glad that you enjoy your visit to AD! Give me a nudge with your character name if you want an instance run some time or something like that.

I agree that it was too busy in the sense that the cathedral was heaving, and there was no way we could have properly looked over every participant within a reasonable time frame. We could easily have been there for 3 more hours looking at all of the outfits, but of course there was no way we could actually limit the number of characters attending.

AD has the 9th largest Alliance population among all of the European realms, which is rather impressive given that there’s c.250 of them, and it has a community which is considerably more active than many of the realms we’ve visited with the WoW Factor. With that in mind, it’s not surprising that we had so much on our hands!

  2. Samaramon says:

Wow, can’t believe you guys pinged me! That’s amazing, such an honor.
I want to thank you again for the event, it was really inspiring and very, very fun. And I’ll say it again, next time you’re on Argent Dawn you can count on me to donate! I’d love to experience this event again.

Once again, thanks for the lovely evening, wish you all the best in future events!

    ~Sam

    • Noelani says:

Congratulations on your win! Well deserved for an outfit which we’ve certainly not seen at a previous event.

I enjoyed reading through your experiences of the event, it’s interesting to see things from a participant perspective. You’re welcome to send me an email or leave a message with Caelestes in-game, if you’d like to discuss funding for a future event on AD.

      Thanks for joining us!

    • Ironyca says:

Thanks for coming along Sam, glad you enjoyed it and congratulations on your prize!

  3. […] In just a few hours, we’re off to Argent Dawn EU with the WoW Factor (my home realm), so I’ve collected a variation of what I could find from seeing folks around and from the forums.[…]
