Tier 8 Mage Lookalike

Armor Type: Cloth
Level Req.: 80
Source: BoP/BoE drops from Ulduar

How to get the set:
This outfit is a recolour of the mage Tier 8 Kirin Tor sets and is specifically obtained from within Ulduar10. The set, designed initially for offensive casters, is a mixture of normal and hard-mode boss drops. The bracers are BoE, which means you may occasionally see them on the Auction House.

It is advisable to pursue this set as part of a raid, as Ulduar 10 can still present challenges, even at level 85.

If you want to wear a tabard with this set, you won’t want to use the belt. It looks great without a tabard, but because it blends in to the robe’s texture, if you wear a tabard it looks like the tabard just disappears into the robe.

Luckily, there’s a great option if you do want to wear a tabard with it. The Mindfire Waistband matches this set perfectly, and gives you a visible belt for the tabard to tuck into.

Anyone know of a non-robe chest/tabard that could go well with this? Farming up this set on my Warlock but really don’t like robes, so I would like a fitting vest alternative since only mages gets the real one. :(

I’m working on a set with the same substitution. I’ve found that the Sorcerer Drape works really well when it’s covered by a tabard. You can still see a tiny streak of yellow under the shoulders if you really try to peek inside, but otherwise its solid dark blue.

For a tabard, well… Either the tabards of the Kirin Tor or the Kirin Tor Offensive (if Alliance) would be the best thematically. Color-wise, I like the Silver Covenant tabard. No comment on what would be good for a Horde character.

The colours used in this set matches perfectly with Heroic Sanctified Crimson Acolyte set

I’d just like to add that the Sash of Ancient Power and Spellslinger’s Slippers share models and colors with the BoP waist and feet items and as such serve as cheap alternatives in case good old Yoggy and Razorscale refuse to drop their respected items :)

Of interest, all the Kirin Tor style hats break on worgen and default to purple colour.
