Shadow’s Embrace

Shadow’s Embrace
Tier 1 Mage Lookalike

Armor Type: Cloth
Level Req.: 70
Source: Tailored items and BoP boss drops from Outland raids
Availability: Time consuming to farm, but easily done so by high level characters

How to get the set:
The Shadow’s Embrace, also known as the Frozen Shadoweave Set, comprises three tailor-crafted pieces on its own. However, it also matches up with a substantial number of other items which, as a collective, form a recolour of the Mage Tier 1 Set, the Arcanist Regalia. Whilst there appear to be no matching bracers for the set, all of the other armor slots are represented, sometimes more than once, so the set appearance is quite accessible.

As well as being able to make the Frozen Shadoweave pieces, tailors can also craft the Battlecast set, which are not only a good match for the set, but also BoE. Whilst Shadoweave patterns are vendor purchased, those for the two Battlecast pieces, the head and legs, are unfortunately heroic Outland dungeon drops, which means that they may not be too readily available these days. Nonetheless, if you are able to find a tailor who can sew both sets for you, then you basically have a complete outfit. Extra items to match up with the tailored sets, as well as a few alternative versions, can be found in Karazhan and Gruul’s Lair, so don’t despair if you don’t have a tailor at hand!

It’s worth noting that in places, the colouration of this set isn’t perfect. Some of the items are better suited to the purple recolour of the Arcanist Regalia, but are listed in this article as the blue recolour is overall more complete, and the difference is quite minimal anyway.

Any suggestions for a cloak for this set?

Great looking recolour, loved the set even back in BC. Although I’m more fond of ‘gauntlet’ type of gloves, thought perhaps using an alternate pair.
