Blood Knight

Blood Knight

Armor Type: Mail
Level Req.: 70
Source: BoE world drops, two instance drops and a quest reward
Availability: Some pieces harder to obtain than others, most can be found on the AH

How to get the set:
The main armor pieces themselves, the Ironhide set parts, are random BoE world drops from creatures between roughly level 50 and 60. You best bet for obtaining these is the Auction House, where pieces should crop up regularly. The sword and shield are rather simple to obtain, dropping from level 70 heroics, with drop rates of 13 and 18% respectively. The heroics from which they come, Mechanar and Ramparts, can be solod by high level characters with ease.

The tabard is the real clincher for the set, a reward from the quest Weapons of Darkness, a part of the quest chain in which Horde paladins obtain their class specific mounts.

Shoulders – Ironhide Pauldrons
Chest – Ironhide Breastplate
Wrists – Ironhide Bracers
Gloves – Ironhide Gauntlets
Waist – Ironhide Belt
Legs – Ironhide Legguards
Feet – Ironhide Greaves
One-handed Sword – The Sun Eater (BoP from Pathaleon the Calculator in heroic Mechanar)
Shield – Blood Knight Defender (BoP from Watchkeeper Gargolmar in heroic Hellfire Ramparts)
Tabard – Blood Knight Tabard

I would suggest using a Blood Groove Blade, as it is one of the few weapons that are Blood Elf by lore and it also matches fairly well.

  2. Flameater says:

one tip: since blood knights are BLOOD ELF paladins, they can get Warlord’s Aegis and if you combine it with blood knight’s tabard and cape you get http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=29612:29613:29614:29615:29616:29617:27449:25549:29382:29362

    and it’s PLATE

    • Noelani says:

Valid point, but first of all, the article you are posting on is a roleplay outfit and was written and posted many months before transmogrification was announced, so it had equal validity for anybody wishing to resemble a Blood Knight, even if mail.

Secondly, we document your suggestion as a Blood Knight in our Warlord’s Aegis article.

This article will be extended upon and updated further in future, as we have done with our Demon Hunter, among other roleplay sets. However, we have other priorities at present, with MoP just around the corner.

I find the darkcrest set works wonders for the plate users.

  4. Vexx says:

As for weps i suggest http://www.wowhead.com/item=23540#screenshots for 1h sword.

and if you would go 2h i believe this is looks good http://www.wowhead.com/item=23540#screenshots

  5. Sarah Pope (@TacoLuhv) says:

Or use the hellreaver? I don’t get why everyone is so obsessed with everything other than the hellreaver for the 2-h.

  6. Dreven says:

    Excellent – thanks for this.

For the shield, I’ve used the lvl 70 PVP [Gladiator’s Shield Wall]

For weapons I recommend Twohanded sword Endbringer http://www.wowhead.com/item=27769

or One Handed sword, Greatsword of Horrid Dreams http://www.wowhead.com/item=27905

  8. Bob says:

Personally i think the best weapon for this is the Blackguard {http://www.wowhead.com/item=19168#}. It fits the color scheme so well. Another option for maces you can use the Ebon Hand {http://www.wowhead.com/item=19170#same-model-as}.

  9. Josh says:

I don’t really like the sword.

  10. Arthur Minx says:

Or buy the Inferno Tempered plate set from G’eras in Shattrath. http://www.wowhead.com/search?q=inferno+tempered

  11. No! If you’re going to play dress-up as a Blood Knight, at least BE a darn Blood Knight. This is insulting to fabulous role playing BK guilds out there!

    I use the
Inferno-Tempered set with Darkcrest Shoulders and Belt (the entire set is a valid replacement)
Ashkandi (lvl 60 version, not the crappy little reclaimed one)
Helm of Endless Rage (not exactly a match but I personally like it)
    Blood Knight War cloak.
It is the same model as the Dark Iron set but a LOT cheaper.

Here’s a link to the plate set I wear: http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=30769:30766:30768:30767:31315:29382:25549:27449:24988:40345#. Most of the pieces are very easy to get, costing just a handful of justice points to purchase from G’eras in Shattrath. If you can’t get the Goblin Girdle because you’ve already completed that quest, G’eras also sells a Chain of Unleashed Rage that makes a good alternative.

  14. gothnate says:

Just a note, all horde paladins can get this tabard. After doing the same quest that gives blood elves the tabard, tauren can just go to the tabard vendor a get it for free.

    The quest is the key.

  15. Vinven says:

The level 60 horde pvp set looks way better for the Blood Knight look.

Sadly, this is a Mail set, which limits options for the newly-arrived Transmogrify crowd who might like to do this out of plate (yes, I’m one of ‘em).

I’d humbly recommend looking at the Dark Iron set (blacksmith-craftable epics) as a plate alternative. Materials-intensive, but if you can find someone who knows all the patterns, it’s just a matter of rounding up the materials.

    • ironyca says:

Yeah, it’s such a shame that this set is mail when it fits the blood knight look so well.
We might take another look at this later and update it so that people looking to transmogrify can make use of the article too.

The Dark Iron set is indeed a good alternative, thanks for notifying us.

I dig this outfit. If you are a paladin (which you should be since only Paladins are Blood Knights), you can also get the level 60 PvP set (http://www.wowpedia.org/Warlord's_Aegis) for a small amount of honor. You will still need the shield, weapon, and belt however. I like this set b/c it’s not as shiny (hard to tell in pics but it’s more of a flat black and looks great with the tabard).
