The Geek

The Geek

Armor Type: Cloth
Level Req.: 60
Source: A mix of boss drops, crafted and BoE world drops
Availability: Some pieces are vastly harder to obtain than others and will require a run through Blackwing Lair. The goggles are for engineers only, but there is a mail alternative, see below.

How to get the set:
The shoes are the key piece in this set, the rest have viable alternatives, that all work well too. The shoes are also the hardest item to come by, as they require a run through Blackwing Lair.

The shorts are a quest reward for alliance only, but there is an alternative if you have done the quest or are horde: Padre’s Trousers, which drop from Illyanna Ravenoak (24% drop chance) in Dire Maul. They are also shorts, but brown with a stitching on the side.

There is also an alternative to the goggles if you are not an engineer, but you need to be level 80 and able to wear mail: Steamworker’s Goggles which drop from Flame Leviathan in Ulduar (18% drop chance)

Head – Flying Tiger Goggles (crafted by engineers, requires a skill of 100 of engineering to be equipped)
Shirt – Green Lumberjack Shirt (crafted by a tailor)
Waist – Canvas Belt (BoE world drop of low quality)
Legs – Lucky Trousers (Reward from the alliance quest In Defense of the King’s Lands but there is a viable alternative: see “how to get the set”)
Feet – Ringo’s Blizzard Boots (BoP drop from Death Talon Wyrmguard (drop chance 7%) in Blackwing Lair)
Off-hand – Tome of the Dawn (crafted by an scribe, but any book will do really)

dude a nelf mage starts with that kind of sandals, only theirs are blue.

  2. hootzjnr says:

the nice shorts from a stranglethorn quest are purple but would make a nice alternitive

  3. Deceive says:

Are there any shorts that share this model? Would like to get this set but wasn’t able to get them before 4.0.1

I have not been able to find any, so I think Padre’s Trousers are your only bet.
If you don’t mind the line on the pants to be a little uneven, there’s a few more low level options out there – fx: Ritual Leggings

  4. Grinmur says:

I think there is a quest at Badlands where you could get “safety goggles”. Easy to obtain and requires no engineering. Could work for this outfit.

      Excellent!
I put in the link for the goggles here where you can also see what quest you need to complete to get it. It requires lvl 44 and the goggles are cloth!
However, they do have that green glow to them, if you’re that kind of geek.

  5. Judikael says:

If the color of goggles doesn’t matter to you, I’d point you towards theAuthentic Jr. Engineer Goggles. They have no engineering requirement and can be worn at any level. Check the AH or have a high level engineer make you a pair.

    • ironyca says:

These may be the easiest to get, but they are red.
Perhaps these other colored goggles can be used to create a chemestry geek or perhaps a crazy scientist even.
